Alta Vista Mountain Villa is a unique property in the village of Wanagiri in North Bali. Perched high on a mountain ridge at around 1800 metres elevation, the climate is cool and welcoming throughout the year. The temperature seldom goes above 24 degrees Celsius in the daytime or below 16 degrees Celsius in the early morning, thus providing a welcome respite from the sometimes oppressive heat and humidity of the lowlands. Forests, flower fields and agricultural plantations are especially lush in these mountains because of abundance of mountain-fresh rainfall, which typically comes in the mid-afternoons, following which the clouds clear and the country side is fresh as newly washed. The nights are often clear enough to see the sweep of the Milky Way in all its splendour, without the distraction of city lights.

Alta Vista Mountain Villa is skilfully designed to make the estate buildings blend harmoniously with the mountain terrain and the surrounding village ambience. Upon arrival, the entrance pavilion welcomes visitors through a Bangkiray feature door flanked by Kerobokan stone facades. Once inside the door, a sense of serenity is immediately evident to the visitor. There are serene reflecting pools on either side of a walkway over water. The ponds are fed by water gently trickling down slate waterfalls. The pools are surrounded by lush, verdant vegetation. Ascending a stately staircase flanked by water and greenery, the visitor arrives at the main pavilion of the estate, which overlooks the pools and the bedroom villas which are set amid lush gardens.

The villas of Alta Vista ingenuously meld modernist and sleek lines with elements of Balinese traditional architecture. The design emphasises comfort, style and luxury, coupled with ergonometric functionality of all the living spaces. There are only 5 bedroom villas on an estate of 5,200 square metres, thus guaranteeing a sense of seclusion and private luxury when staying in each bedroom villa as well as throughout the estate. Three of the bedroom villas are accessible by wheelchair. The interiors of the villas are all on one level with no steps inside and the shower cubicle is also wheelchair accessible.

Alta Vista Mountain Villa is situated in close proximity to the beautiful and scenic caldera lakes of Lake Beratan, Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. Lake Beratan is where the popular mountain town of Bedugul lies, and where the famous Balinese Ulun Danu Temple floats elegantly on the lake. Bedugul is an attractive tourist destination with vibrant and colourful markets, quaint shops and incredible local cuisine, but spared from the excessive congestion of the south. Lakes Buyan and Tamblingan are surrounded by flower and vegetable farms and strawberry fields, with camping, fishing and boating as popular activities.

While the beaches of south Bali are justly famous, the northern coast of Bali is still a relatively well-kept secret. From Alta Vista Mountain Villa it is only a 30-40 minute drive to the coast either north-east to Bali’s second city Singaraja, or north-west down the mountain ridge to Seririt, in close proximity to the famous Lovina Beach.
